That sounds pretty interesting. I can imagine each chapter being five years later than the previous, and switching perspectives every time.

Writing this from a hospital bed.

Medical professionals are probably reading this saying, "Didn't you just have a kidney stone removed?"

Well the stone was in my ureter for more than a month, and when they took it out, they put a stint in my ureter, and every time I put pressure on the stint (after I urinate, when the kidney is moving new waste to my bladder), I've been experiencing agony. It' wouldn't have been so bad if I got the right medicine right out of the OR, but that got screwed up, so I started peeing too soon, and hadn't gotten enough pain killers, and the hospital staff panicked and checked me in for the night.

Now that the medicine situation is squared away I'm drifting through the barrier of consciousness and unconsciousness.

Last night I was stressed out that something would go wrong (with good reason apparently), so while I was awake last night I played Oolite (the open source retro clone of the old video game Elite).

In my current doped up haze, for a moment I would have sworn to you that I was reading a book set in the Elite universe, entitled Kiss the Stars (the euphemism that people sometimes use for the refueling method of using fuel scoops to gather superheated hydrogen from a star for one's FTL engines). Of course, the book wasn't about refueling. It was a noir romance story along the lines of Pick Up by Charles Willeford, or Waltz into Darkness by Cornell Woolrich.

Now that I'm experiencing a moment of lucidity, I'm thinking, that might be a good enough idea for me to one day write it.

I think you should write it! You've had a moment of clarity in a very difficult situation and I think you should capitalise on it. I'm glad that, in small way, 1KM1KT provided a small therapy during a stressful time.

Get well soon, Sheikh!
