I know it's scifi (or apparently syfy now!?!) but I doubt a shark large enough to clamp it's jaws around a planes fusilage, is actually able of launching itself a few hundred feet out of the water.

I'm pretty sure Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus (the movie you're referencing) is supposed to be intentionally campy.

I've just noticed that no-one has yet mentioned:

Jar Jar Binks and the entire nation of Gungans.

Jar Jar binks is annoying, but him and his his race are not rediculous.... maybe parasites living off former glory....

flying plane eating Sharks....makes Jar Jar binks look like an Asimov moment.

Laser vision?

Also, looking at that "Common Misconceptions" list, I realized that Dan Simmons' "Hyperion"/"Endymion" quadrilogy actually gets most of the space combat right. It's pretty fantastical in other ways, though (quantum teleportation, all sorts of causality-bending time travel, and cross-shaped parasites that reincarnate their hosts from near-total annihilation)... so more science-fantasy than anything "hard" sci-fi.

Does anyone know if Sharktopus has laser beam eyes? That would be such an insane quantity of high grade fail that it would morph into win.
