My first novella: Everything Is Light

I'm really happy with how this book turned out. Although I've done a lot of writing on different projects, this is the first novella length work that I've completed. :D

Thank you kind sir! It will be interesting to hear your take on it so I look forward to that. I had trouble putting pictures in the epub unfortunately, the book is after all aimed at young readers but so far adults have been enjoying it too. I could post the pictures here, but outside of the context of the story they may seem underwhelming.

These pictures might not mean a lot outside the text. I didn't intend to include pictures at first but my early readers would ask about what certain things looked like, so I drew the ones they requested.

Warning: Minor spoilers are in the pictures. Mostly in that you'll know certain things are coming. They'll just be less a surprise if you see them first. In the book there's one picture for every two chapters.

The idea behind the writing style is that it's translated from an ancient language. I saw a TED talk on african written languages and was totally taken by one that looked like a tree. This is my attempt at a pictorial language and it's the first three paragraphs of the book. (Er, the first three paragraphs are also in English, you don't have to decipher the glyphs to read the story.)
