On a more productive note - really, you don't need character creation. Just have the players pick an actor they'd want to be, and have a list (extensible, of course) of strengths and flaws as they are perceived. For instance, Jennifer Aniston has Grace and maybe Intelligence, but No One Takes Her Seriously. The Rock is Tough and Strong, but Dumb as a Post.
Things like that.

Premade characters is a good thing, in my opinion. Sure, make a list of traits such as Kuma_Pageworks suggests, but only for veteran players who don't want to take on the ones you suggest.
Reminds me of Schwarzenegger's The Running Man of the late 80's, and the previously mentioned SmashTV (although I remember the coin-op, not the SNES version).
