A lament for not having time to playtest

Postby MikeSands » Wed Mar 15, 2006 1:23 am

You know, I have this feeling that my mechanics are basically good but will have a few unexpected blowouts. The kind that a couple of playtests would immediately highlight.

And there is no way I can possibly organise a playtest by the end of game chef.

AIEEEE!

That concludes this lament.

Don't worry; the judges won't have the time to playtest either, so you just have to make it look playable.

Oops, did I actually write that? It wasn't me, I swear. Anyway, they paid me to do it! Hey, look over there, a flying elephant!

Totally there with you, Mike. I'm having enough trouble getting my entry finished up right now, let alone playtesting it. But just consider how brave and brash we are for turning our creativity loose in its rawest form and exposing it to public view. No girly-man playtesting for us, no, no need to smooth the rough edges and make sure everything actually works. :)

What we need is to start setting up Game Chef Playtest events at the cons that follow Game Chef. Friday evenings when everybody's just milling around anyway, for instance.
