[Review] All Thieves Are Gay, Anyway

Postby Ben Lehman » Sun Mar 26, 2006 7:54 am

All Thieves are Gay Anyway

A spectacular return to the true roots of role-playing and a perfect example of .

Creative and Effective Incorporation of the Rules: 10

Explanation: The ingredient use is beyond phenomenal, transcending the binary category divisions and embracing a holistic approach to the game design. The time limit is cleverly maintained by both the boredom that the game (intentionally) induces and the presence of alcohol at the table, which should rapidly render us lightweight geeks incapable of play.

Clarity: 10

The text is crystal clear.

Completeness: 10

The game is completely playable based on the present text. Nothing is missing or wanting.

Estimated Effectiveness in Play: 10

To those familiar with the "design what doesn't matter" philosophy, this game is clearly a God-send. By removing all things of any note from the rules, that leaves a completely blank slate for players to render what they really care about into their game experience. Truly, the rules get out of the way and let us play in the way that we want, unlike all these fascistic games that try to tell us how to play. Truly, play of this game will be brilliant.

Swing Vote: 10+10

I will never play nor design another role-playing game again. Plus 10 points for the dreidel.

Total Score: 60/50

(Take this with a grain of salt, please.)
