The hypnomechanical theater whirs to life, spinning and humming. For a moment you see panels open up on the machine and then the world of ancient troy leaps to life around you! You'd almost (but not quite) swear you're actually fighting Achilles! Even Anne did better than average job at her lines. Sure you ad libed the script a bit but they'll get the point, it's not like they'll ever read it to know the difference.

Brisbane is completely immersed, for a while, there is no other world but what is in the play. Richards sees the scenes but he can tell it's an illusion, he can feel that it's not real.

The play ends, the crowd cheers and claps. The funny thing is, you're not sure if they understood any of it, but they still seemed to love it.

Mr. Paes pushes back stage again, but this time he walks right past Paddington. "Helen! You must come back with me! You are the most beautiful woman in all the world!"

For some reason the hypnosis didn't wear off of him when the play ended. He grabs Anne by the wrist and starts to pull her towards him, trying to kiss her. She resists and does prove herself a tough young lady because she actually pushes him away. He falls backward but gets back up and continues to go after her. What do you do?

I step between Paes and Anne. "Anne, go fetch the good doctor, would you. I'll try to restrain Mr Mayor." I put up my fists, "Snap out of it, or I'll have to put you out of it."
Sometimes, you've just gotta roll the dice.

Richards notices the commotion, and can easily see it centers around the little lass that fancies Brisbane.
He also knows it's the mayor causing the problem, and can tell it's not intentional, but still if she fancies
Brisbane, he might fancy her . . . and Richards kinda likes Brisbane.

Making his move Richards knows out right clobbering the moron of a mayor is out of the question, so he decides
best option is to ambush the mayor and try to get his attention with repeated compliments about his regal nature,
to let the others get the little lass out of harms way.

Tactics: Ambush
Persuasion (untrained) Compliment +1(Charm), Repetition +1(Will)

The Mayor is going to try and get around the two of you. Unfortunately for him his Agility is poor and so is are his Agility skills so he'd have to resort to the Command skill.
Bark +1 Honor
Shout +1 Honor
Authority +2 Honor
Consequence +1 Honor +1 Intelligence
Trick - Wise The person giving the command explains how it would be smart to obey.

Final scores
Honor 9
Intelligence 6

They mayor goes red in the face for a moment and he demands that you men stand aside, if you don't he will have the police toss you in the prison. Then shouts "Get out of my way, now!"

Oooh JK just went deep using an untrained skill. That gives you an unmodified Perception score of 1 for the ambush, a Charm score of 2 for the persuasion damage and a Will of 4 for, beating his potential use of stubborn refusal? I know the untrained skill limited you to three slots but if you want to try again, focus on either the ambush and up Perception or do what you can to up your charm.

The mayor's Charm is 5 with no modifiers so the compliments don't seem to dissuade him. His Perception is also 1 so the ambush also doesn't work.

The mayor's command doesn't work on Richards because he didn't use a personal code hook and tried to rely on the Wise trick but the mayor's Intelligence score didn't beat Richards'. So he hasn't made it by you.

The Wise trick does work on Paddington and he definitely beat his Honor, Paddington can either comply or have his Honor reduced one. (This is a failure, you could make it a significant failure if you want and gain 4 SP) Even if you do step aside, You can still talk (which is Paddington's strong point) and use Begging or Etiquette to try and take him down. With Etiquette, Paddinton would have to use the Chat trick to use his Charm in the contest. With Begging you'd have to guess what one of his personal code items are and then have a higher Charm score than him.

I'll stick to the "Swap Two" as I've already limited myself with untrained.
I'm not covering my tricks this time around as I'm going to try and RP it :)
I don't think I really RPed it right but I'll stick with what I posted . . .

Richards reacts like a mule to the shouted command and digs in his heels.

Quickly formulating a counter plan, Richards tosses the thought of Ambush and moves
to attempt to talk his way free of this predicament.

"Whoa there partner. No need to get all twisted around like a rattler there your Honor. What we are having
here is a simple difference of opinion." Richards moves closer and almost stands next to the mayor, but still
keeps the bulk of his body between the Mayor and Anne.

"Now I can understand your interest in that fine little filly there. I can. She's a pretty little thing,
smart looking face, good set of hips, could give the right fella a good sized family with lots of sons.
I see all that, but here's the issue, and it's only a small one your Honor, and it's none of your doing,
its her's as you can see she's a little young to understand how things are with men of you position."
Richards closes the distance between him and the Mayor just enough that he can take the Mayor's hand
and shake it, "And I mean no offense here your Honor, but you see you was coming on a little rough to
her, and she's over reacted, and please, please let me apologize for that. Now seeing as everyone is
getting just a little riled up here, I'm suggesting you let us" Richards indicates himself, Paddington and
Ms Anne, "treat you to a little dinner. Nice wine, and conversation, so you can speak to the young lady
and prove how fortunate it would be for her to be at your side. Show her your not some back river
savage. Charm her at dinner sir."

Tricks/Methods. Richards drops the Ambush and Compliment to move to straight talking.
Logical Argument - Richards is trying to out smart/out talk the Mayor into seeing the benefit of having dinner
and not a brawl.
Leading Questions (+1Int) - Richards also uses leading questions, ones that show the Mayor in a good light,
and that what is happening isn't how the mayor wants to win the girl.
Repetition (+1 Will) Richards keeps referring to the Mayor as a Sir, and Honor, and that Anne is young and doesn't
understand what is happening. Plus that this should be resolved over dinner and not with threats.

Brisbane is still pretty much under the influence, it's lucky he didn't become a zombified hypno-victim like the mayor there. The whole presentation felt so real! He saw the rise and fall of great heroes, he felt that he was one of them, breaching the walls of Troy with his mighty spear. Then it was all a blur. Now he's standing about 10 metres from the conflict between the mayor and the Hypno-crew and he has to act.

"Thank you for coming," he shouts to the crowd, "meeting with the actors is only for the Crème de la Crème, so please leave the premises," he wants to drive out everybody so that they could solve the mayor-problem.

"Umm," he tries to remember some basic Spanish or Portuguese or whatever, "fora, fora! Rápido!"

Brisbane hasn't much trick for crowd control, so it's his Charm 2, Will 1, but the crowd should know that he's the one running the show.
An operating table is now an altar.

Was waiting to see if Paddington would jump in the action but we'll push ahead and see what we've got.

The crowd starts to move, not quickly, but they're getting up and meandering away.

The Mayor, seeing that his command didn't work with Richards tries to modify his tactics a little.

Swap two
Bark +1 Honor
Shout +1 Honor
Authority +2 Honor
Fear +2 Charm
Trick - Inspire, in this case he's trying to inspire fear.

You English think you can do whatever you want! You'll disapear off the street one day and no one will ever find you again! Get out of my way!

Final scores
Honor 8
Charm 7
Intelligence 5

Richards scores
Intelligence 9
Will 3
Charm 1

Which is pretty funny because you both won.

Richards knows that what the Mayor is saying can happen. He'd seen it happen to some of his acquaintances. He steps aside and says his part. The Mayor flushes red in the face again and storms away.

Does that MEAN Richards stands aside, and he leaves Anne alone?
Can Richards take offense to be being called English, when in fact he's Canadian/American. :)

Yes, that's exactly what happens. I don't know if you want to mess with the Mayor any more at this point but if you really want to. .. (I think he meant you speak English).

So unless Richards is going to slug the Mayor, I'll move to the next scene. (Can't right now. Headed out the door.)

Richards will leave well enough alone. Discretion the better part of Valor and all that :)

The "English" comment sticks in Richards' craw and he suppresses the urge to deck the Mayor.
Knowing full well that this issue is far from settled he moves to Anne, and Paddington.

"This place is about to become a real hornet's nest. I suggest you gets a moving and keeps moving,
until you're behind some solid lockable doors." It's Paddington who notices that Richards' waist coat
is now open giving easy access to the bowie knife hidden inside.

Trying not to appear too rushed Richards starts to steer the pair towards an exit while also nodding
to Brisbane to get a move on.
