[WIP] Two pages of Version 4

Having a week off work is great! I get to make loads of progress on Icar. One of the big things I've been working on is a background image to border (and partly sit behind) the text in the main ruleset. On its own, the composite background is pretty ugly but when it's set behind the text, it really lifts the book up.

The image is still in the experimental stages - I think it needs to be lighter with less contrast and some of the bits need a bit of tidying but it's mostly there. This is definitely work in progress. I don't even know what the text says off the top of my head, it's the layout I'm most interested in. I'm not sure about the page numbers atm. All feedback welcome!

Like it mate. I think the lightness of the image is always hard to judge on screen. The behind text section looks light enough to me.

For the printed versions of Midian I have gone with page numbers centered on the bottom in a footer. This gives consistency when viewed as a pdf (not that pdf's are how I ended up releasing it). I also didn't have to worry about which page was left and which was right. I know that word processors can track that for me, but for the initial print-run each chapter was a separate document.

Tis a good point. I've moved my page numbers into the middle. I noticed most of the printed (bought) RPGs I have put them there. Go on, take a look at your own shelf!

On my shelf, they are all in the middle: SLA Industries, Cyberpunk 2020, Cybergeneration, All my Palladium Books (Fantasy RPG, Ninjas and Superspies), Noir, Deadlands (original one), Toon, Paranoia...

cp2020 has them in the corner of the page under the grey margins...

have i misunderstood something fundimentally important here?

Hmmmm... maybe there is something wrong with my copy. or my eyes. I'm talking about the original CP 2020.

I think mine is a reprint of the original cp2020, includes new art from the international edition.
