Bionics book - Probably bringing it into Version 4

Postby Rob Lang » Wed Jun 02, 2010 8:22 am

It seems I forgot to include anything but passing references to bionics in V4. Oops! Now I have to decide if I build in the bionics stuff from the Beta supplement I wrote. You can download that bit from the site now - it's been up for ages!

At the moment, the description piece will have to be included but after that I am not sure how I add the create-your-own suits bit. Does it belong alongside the background and social sections or should it go in its own bit? Is it really part of the Core rules? Or character creation? Premade suits will go in the Equipment Index.

The difficulty is the fact that you've written v4, bolting on bionics could be lead to a poor fit. Unless you decide to rewrite large sections, I would suggest a supplement, if you don't fancy a rewrite :D

The thing is that Bionics is sort of integral already, I've just not described it! :)

Having moved a load of in there, it really does sort of fit. It also makes me want to move some other describey-talky stuff out of the Equipment Index and into the core rules. This stuff is canon, it's not extensible and needs to be built in with everything else.

seriously you've worked really hard on v4 and you should congratulate yourself. It's a major achievement; especially considering you've reproduced recently. You should buy yourself a nice cold pint.

If you cannot manage the 4.0 rewrite anytime soon, how about reposting all the old 3.X files please. That can at least be helpful to those of us who joined the ICAR family late.

The archive link on your website points to the page where the link is, not to the files for download. We are new to the game and like what we see but have little guidance for play balance with only one example of cybering to base the entire universe upon.

Thanks.

Hmm, that's not like Rob to have dead links.

You game is awesome, and I want to say that your work and creativity is being well received by my little gaming group.

We have played for about 6 hours now and have started a little list of questions which I will post up at some point soon but was holding off in case the alpha addressed them

If you do get the time and can fix the dead links on the archive page of your website it would be grand. Having the older version to search if there are any references to things like "gaiacards" and "portable gaia terminals" would be helpful as I cannot seam to find a description for them. Aswell as the bionics

Also I can only see the cartoons from 1-10 and 25 -33. 11-24 don't appear to load.
