I'm not going to say that the art is kick-ass awesome...

I'll let you decide that for yourself.

That artwork is awesome in that it filled me with awe.

Because you know... Pondsmith is pretty good, not a sucky game designer. He wrote Falkenstein.

A lot of what I have seen for this contest kicks the butt of Cyberpunk 3.0. Really, art, game ideas, writing, early drafts, blows away many commercial cyberpunk games.

Though I am not nearly done, anyone who wishes to check the progress can do so here:

What?!

No. Dude. You are so totally missing out.

If you have an awesome title like Ghettopocalypse, you absolutely need to have a gangster rap version of Dethklok in it.

You know what destroyed the world and left it this mess with civilization just ghettos clinging to the skeletal remains of the old cities?

Well, there was this concert by the legendary gangster rappers, Glockstoppers! (Probably needs a better name.) Front man, Keeton Harrington, A.K.A. The Notorious Master Kee (name is perfect, keep it if you want) laid down rhymes so devastating that the world was literally devastated. Maybe by some weird coincidence, his rap contained the exact same syllables that was in an ancient Sumerian chant to end the world, or maybe Master Kee's lyrics were like a tapasya and it summoned Rudra, the Hindu god that destroys the world with voice, but whatever it was, the mountains shook and the seas boiled, society fell apart. It was, quite literally, a Hell of a show. People lost their minds, got nekid and did stuff to each other. It was awesome! Generations later, people still talk about it.

And after the show, Glockstoppers disappeared. Some people say that Master Kee is still alive, wandering in the badlands, all old and nekid and leathery, weird colored dredloks in his hair and beard hanging down to his knees, looking kind of like Spider Jerusalem in the first issue of Transmet. (Which is really weird because he used to look like Sam Sparro.) And one day he's going to put on another show, one so funky that the world will go back together, but groovier than it ever was before. But seriously, he would have to be really old. What have they been smoking?

I'm going to put that in the 'story hooks' area!

Heh, so apparently I'm not the only one thinking they'll skate by with pretty art. :-p

I'm getting really hung up over the layout of the PDF for some reason... although the fact I'm probably going to keep adding to it and turn this into a salable book when I'm done contributes to that.

Well, style over substance IS the rule of the ghetto! Though, I will have playable substance!
