Okay. I have fumbled around trying to decide whether to join this event for more than a month. Time to throw down or give up... Umm... I will throw down and enter. I am calling my project Code Named Neon because I don't have a name yet. This is important and I have blogged about this already .
I am intending to share ideas and updates here and continue my "design diary" at my sight. So, the plan;
1. A complete game (setting and rules) in 30 pages
2. Focus on the kinds of story and action found in modern and "classic" cyberpunk fiction (as opposed to older RPGs)
3. No character classes / archetypes, no weapon or gear lists and no special rules for cyber-gear
4. Primarily set in Australia
Inspired by some of the TED videos that Rob linked to (and a few others that I then explored) I am boiling up a setting where a great Charter City was imagined for northern Australia, opening the borders to the neighbours in Asia. Whether the city itself is a success (that is, I haven't decided yet!) a great shanty town grew up in the heat, humidity and dust of the Top End. The stories of my game will take place here.
Play will primarily be about a character's internal and external struggles - to get along with others, to achieve their goals and to live another day.
More will follow!
