I'm curious, who dunnit mystery games are my downfall. The main mechanism for running TNS is to make the scenes interchangeable. I have a feeling that you learned this over time, what effect does it have on the game? I could understand how a player picking up clues in a different order could necessitate this. Is that the main reason or are there others?
