Feedback - How would you like it?

Postby Rob Lang » Fri Jul 08, 2011 2:25 pm

So, I've read all these games and I've got some scrappy notes for each one that I used to try and work out which one of them was my absolute favourite. I liked all the games that came in but only Droog really left me wondering what the bloody hell was going on in the author's mind.

Some of you might like to know what I thought of your game - I want to review a couple more of them too. Particularly, you might like to know why you didn't win. I'd say you didn't win because Droog Family Songbook is the most incredible thing I've read this year. It doesn't make your game bad, it's just the level to beat was amazing.

Would you like me to post up your feedback on the forum for discussion or a private emai? For forum discussion, let me know here. For private email, pop me an email to brainwiped at gmail dot com and I'll send it through.

Another thing to add is that I'm on holiday until 13th of July, in a place in Britain where they've not got electricity yet (no, MrE, not Scotland, the other place without electriciy), so I will be slow to reply.

I'm curious to see everyone's improved versions now, after all feedback (not just from the Dr Lang, but those made during the competition)!

I know one thing I've learned from this: it's ****ing hard to make a game! (frosting? icing? baking? pudding? kissing? hugging? dancing??) If you're a good writer, you still need to be able to explain. And if you're good at explaining things, you need to know how to present it visually. And if you're good at layout, you still need some pretty pictures. And if you're good at X, then Y and so on......

But that's probably what makes it fun, no? What is creativity without the struggle?
