[2013] Artifacts and Ambitions

Postby gnapo » Sat Nov 16, 2013 11:31 am

Hello you fine people,

I just submitted my game Artifacts and Ambitions, in which sentient Artifacts with magical powers help people through their troubles. For a price, of course. You play both a person in desperation and an artifact and barter for use of powers with the very essence of your being.

If you're really impatient and need to take a look at it before it's on the site, you can download it here:

This is both my first RPG and my first post here. Feedback is welcome!

I like it. You can not play longer campaigns with it but you can have a great evening. Will try it out soon.

Wow. Love the concept. Pay for power with yourself, haha!

And it was brilliant to make the negotiations between artifact and holder a roleplaying activity between players.

I'm going to try it out as soon as I can (can take a while, but I promise I will), then I'll give some more feed back.

For now, just a thought. What about a version with dice? I'm not a fan of "free form roleplaying", I like my dice (or cards at least). That way, when you sacrifice a "quality", you could lose some kind of bonus in game.

Nevertheless, great game!

Thank you for your kind words.
I actually think the premise for the game could also work with numbers and dice and crunch and everything. Dice were not considered because of the theme of the challenge, though. Keep in mind that the contracts between artifacts and holders may well involve some dice or other method involving chance, but that's up to the players.
I don't think I will be writing a crunchier version anytime soon though. If anybody wants a shot at it, be my guest.

Do what I'm going to with one of mine - rework it with loosened restrictions.
When all you have is a gun that fires windows, every problem looks defenestratable.
