Does anyone else remember the classic video game, X-Com?

Does the XP patch work? I've never managed to get either X-Com or Terror From the Deep working on my XP machine. I loved it when your guys would panic and shoot their own guys in the back, thus causing _them_ to panic.

i tried playing the PCX version of CXOM UFO - Enemy Unknown a few days ago (wanted to relive those great moments and get myself addicted for a week again

sadly, every time the game crashes when i am in my 2nd ground mission, exiting the aircraft .... if i stay inside the aircraft, i can look outside, shoot outside, but if 1 unit sets a foot out of the plane, the game carshes (and i get thrown back in my normal windows desktop)
a friend had the exact same problem (also from the 2nd mission on)

anyone know how to fix this problem? a fix?
maybe i should try the amiga emulator (+ game) ?

all help is highly appreciated
