November 5-November 11 What Did You Play?

Postby Onix » Mon Nov 05, 2012 5:46 pm

What games did you play this week? Give us a rundown of the story, system, player antics, anything you found enjoyable and share them in this thread.

Bonus points question: What was your main criticism of the GM (yes even if you were the GM) and how could you go about fixing the problem?

Another session of V:tM (see previous topics). Things are getting quite complicated story-wise, so no detailed write-up, but in a nutshell I can say nothing's what it seems and I have a feeling that even our mentor Machiavelli might have some hidden plans. He is quite machiavellian, after all. The city is soon to enter a state of war, as a very old (probably from Roman times) vampire appeared and there's also a bunch of anarchs.

Bonus points question: What was your main criticism of the GM (yes even if you were the GM) and how could you go about fixing the problem?
- Cigarette breaks. Two of the four players and the GM smoke so they take cigarette breaks all the time. They are called breaks for a reason: they break concentration, the flow, and are just plainly annoying for me non-smoker. Also, my clothes and hair reek of smoke afterwards.

Also, the GM should be a bit more heavy-handed. Right now he allows way too much off-topic banter, joking and stuff. I'm not against any of those, but hell, we gotta keep the story moving a bit. What are your thoughts on this?

Are you experiencing pains in the chest area or an increased appetite?

Both, yes. I've eaten a few of my colleagues now and found I can climb sheer surfaces.

I did a small game with my son, there wasn't much too it but I had him write out all the math that happened in the game. I wanted to see what impact it would have on his enjoyment of the game and use it as an education experience. Surprisingly he still had fun. I'm not entirely sure what I learned along the lines of using RPGs as a tool for education but it's shaping some thoughts I've had into something more tangible. I'll have to continue on with it and let you know.

The SPF game seems to have stalled at the moment. It was going like gangbusters and then suddenly nothing going on. Might have been going too hot and players burned out? We'll see if things just need to slow down.

GM Problems? I'm in a slump a bit, I've been having a hard time coming up with new and interesting stories lately. I've had these in the past and I usually need some new source of inspiration to kick me out of the slump.
