2015 24h project: Meeting Strangers on "Empty Roads"

So, . I've decided to give it a swing and design a 24h RPG! Starting 20 minutes before this post.

The theme is "Meeting Strangers".

I did some brainstorming while eating lunch... "Strangers"... My first association was that staple western line: "we don't like strangers here". Backroads, Americana, dust, sleepy towns. Meeting a stranger is not equal to getting to know a stranger. When you are meeting a stranger, the stranger is meeting a stranger (you) as well. This was the general cloud of ideas that came to me.

So, my game will be about a road trip, tinted in existential Sundance colours, influenced by "The Straight Story", and aimed at players who are really into roleplaying and GMs who really like to flesh out NPCs (these two groups sometimes overlap, I guess). It will include a single "protagonist", shared narration, etc. We'll see how that works out.
"Empty Roads" is a WIP title, but I might as well stick with it.

GO.

This is the game I want to play, so the best choice is to make it.

A few hundred words in, done with the intro, cleared up the concept. A little pretentious indie game is taking shape :mrgreen:

I am in America, and am ignorant of this A5 you speak of. Even if I can simply look up the size . . .

Do you mean for the picture or the game?

Yeah, thought that it might be a problem :mrgreen: I mean formatting the whole document. A5 is basically a half letter sized paper. Vertical, of course.

The text just looks better in a smaller format.

I might be overdoing the creative typography a bit, but it fits the tone of the game...
