some thing, some thing punk

Postby kumakami » Fri Jun 29, 2018 10:33 pm

So due to ti having been free for a few day on Humble Bundle, I have been playing a lot of Shadowrun Returns. The Cyberpunk bug bit me, but I've got too many ideas. what do you guys think.

#1) The Chrome in our stars: Cyberpunk + Space opera.

#2) SpellPunk: A fantasy world where magic has copied high technology

#3) Warren Peace: underground, anthro Communist Cyberpunk

#4) Spyder's Den: classic cyberpunk but fully focused on the hacker/cyberworld.

thoughts?

1 Is pretty standard Space Opera, at least the way I run it.

I want to see 3, especially if these are actual rabbits with cybernetics. I'd be up for anthros like Zootopia though. More human than that and it starts being boring. Zoodistopia.

I would love to see an accurate depiction of hacking in a game. That's a tall order thought to make it both accurate and playable by people without a computer security background. I'd even go for a fanciful future version of hacking if it solidly based itself on real compsec.

Thank for the input,

#3 is more zootopia

The hacking one is more the fanciful concepts of hacking, but base on the ideas of cloud computing as well as three levels to the "net" (infrastructure code, referencing code, top most is the "OS" that users deal with everyday)

Even if it's a bit fanciful, it sounds like you're basing it on real computer principals. Obviously you'd need to simplify things and make it more fast paced than in real life. I just mean I would be interested if it's not "we're in the computer".

To backpedal on that though, I would be interested if you played AIs that were hacking for their users (I fight for the users). I guess Tron kind of did that already, but if you had a different take it could still be interesting. Maybe if the AIs were given pet like personalities. A careful sneaky cat, a loyal guard dog, a wild wolf… Just some thoughts.

Zoodistopia sounds cool!

I'd play it with hip 1980s stylistics. Neon-colored sneakers, VHS tapes...
