New BATTLES: WOL 2008

Postby Plopez8 » Tue Oct 07, 2008 12:21 pm

Mages line up with Warriors to produce an array of power no mortal can resist. The sighs of the dying echo in the the still waters of the radiant dawn, making it impossible to discern the spawn from creation. Rogues, Mystics and Druids align the cosmos with their insufferable strengths. Wizards, Warlocks and Witches hold the powers of mysticism and magic in their beating and sweaty palms, ready to unleash their power upon the world. Hold on to your seat, BATTLES: Win or lose 2008 is about to take this puny world by storm and you are going to witness it first-hand, as the unstoppable Guardian or the heady Supreme Commander. Fear not, though, as you plummet through this world of heated battle your only companion is your best friend, as well as your worst enemy.

This is the latest installment of BATTLES: Win or lose. I have already written a supplement, BATTLES: Encounters, but I need to see some support and maybe a comment or two. Try this game out, it may take a while to understand, but once you know the rules, you'll be playing quick hands and an even quicker sword. If you are interested in providing artwork, working on the item system or making monsters and/or new Mobs, please leave me a comment at the site.

Hey Paul, thanks for sharing! I think the sorts of games I'm into are less about just slugging it out and getting into the roleplaying aspect. It offers more variety for long campaign games than a simple slugfest.

Not that it means that I don't like to have big old fights in my RPGs, I just don't want it all to be about the dice. Hopefully some of the others might be better takers for it!

This is a preview of what is to come:
"Take your BATTLES game further with BATTLES: Encounters. In this booklet you’ll have instructions on playing with Monsters, Items, Teams and Campaign settings. Picture a camp made of goblins and hobgoblins on the outskirts of the town Greyhaven stealing cattle in the middle of the night. The town needs your help. Defeat the infestation of goblins and hobgoblins and destroy its leader. For defeating the camp, you may pick up a few items, gain experience, and maybe go up in Rank."

If you are playing BATTLES: Win or lose, I ask that you play fairly, that whoever is a Rank higher or lower respect the other persons power. With that spoken, here is the list of what a Rank can do. Remember, true power comes from the heart, not the other way around.

RANK LIST

RANK 1 – Page: MAX LP for the LP column is 5; Max number of cards is 3

RANK 2 – Squire: All Mobs on your side gain +1 to their DEF

RANK 3 – Hero: MAX LP for the LP column is 7

RANK 4 – Adept: All Mobs on your side gain +1 to their ATT

RANK 5 – Elite: You gain +1 to your Initiative

RANK 6 – Champion: Max Number of Cards is 4

RANK 7 – Champion Elite: All Mobs on your side gain +2 to their DEF

RANK 8 – Guardian: MAX LP for the LP column is 9

RANK 9 – Guardian Elite: All Mobs on your side gain +2 to their ATT

RANK 10 – Commander: Max number of cards is 5

RANK 11 – Commander Elite: You gain +2 to your Initiative

RANK 12 – Supreme Commander: There is no Maximum for HP and LP in the LP column

RANK 13 – Master: You may have 2 Mobs of the same type

RANK 14 – Master Rank 1: Max number of cards is 6

RANK 15 – Master Rank 2: You may have 3 Mobs of the same type

RANK 16 – Kismet: Instant Kill one Opponent Mob

RANK 17 – Lord: You can Ressurect one dead Mob to maximum abilities and stats once per game

RANK 18 – Loverly: There is no Maximum number of cards you can use

RANK 19 – Ley Loverly: Double all Damage done to every Opponent Mob

RANK 20 – Hawk: Double all Level Points in the LP column

Again, I apologize for not respecting the power of the game. Please play responsibly and have fun.

Did you know: All Ranks are cumulative, meaning you keep all the powers from every previous Rank?

The Witch

Postby Plopez8 » Thu Nov 20, 2008 5:28 pm

Here is just one of the Mobs in the new expansion, BATTLES: Encounters. This version of the game will probably be available in 2009

Witch ATT: 12 DEF: 0 DMG: D4 HPX1
Runecast (G) (T) (B) Spell
There is a place for everything. The first thing you do in Runecast is determine the VC, which is (6+LP) VC. The number for the VC roll is used to fill in the boxes below. So if you have 13 VC, you could split that number into three numbers, such as 3 and 5 and 5. 3 would go into one box, doesn’t matter where it goes; 5 would go in another box and another 5 go in the last box. The runes don’t change the entire game and you must have all three boxes filled out. To prepare Runecast, you must roll the VC during the GO Action, if that roll is successful, the Witch becomes Busy. Then, as a Turn Action, take 2 of the numbers in the boxes and add them together, along with the base number and roll a VC roll of (2 Boxes + 6). If this VC roll is successful, ALL Opponent Mobs take (final box number) D4 DMG.
Magic Circle (G) (F)
Chant in a circle then clap. Cast during the GO action, Magic Circle will protect the Witch from any Spell affecting her. All you need to roll is (6+LP) VC as a GO Action. To show there is Magic Circle; place the Witch in the Fallow Position. Every Mob casting spells against the Witch will take LPD4 DMG and cancel out the Spell, but the LP for DMG will quip down every GO Action. The Magic Circle never stops, once started, it cannot be stopped unless the Witch is hacked or has run out of power from the magic circle. If the Witch is hacked, the opponent Mob still takes LPD4 DMG.

Battles: Encounters

Postby Plopez8 » Wed May 27, 2009 1:52 pm

You thought it was legit. You thought it was ravenous. You thought, but you do not know. For those of you who believed it was just a game, prepare yourself, for the game isn't over yet. Battles: Encounters is here.

Before the year is over, we will see hundred of monsters, team play, campaign rules, NPCs, RAIDS, Items and that is just the beginning. Grab your dice and roll yourself into new found worlds, storylines with a touch of Non-Player Characters and a definite difficulty.

There will be over 10 more Mobs, Monsters galore, and Items innumeral. It's okay if you're afraid, after a dozen games, you might never play again.

Moved it as this thread has really turned into a promotion, rather than a dicussion.
