Ok, well i know this is my second one of these, but i soon will no longer have time to mess around with this kind of stuff, so now is really my last chance for freedom. FREEDOM!! so, i'm starting now.

I've got the title, the setting, the races, the NPC (Keeton is telling the story) and i've got loads of ideas and fluff to roll with. Hope people like it. Wish me luck!

Well, i figured out the template, some basic font and text choices, i've got the acknowledgments section and the title page done. I'm working on the game mechanics for each of the five factions (the human race as a whole gets to actually play the game alongside all the other crazy races) and i've got some of the fluff in there already as well. Looks like things are going along fine. Hopefully i'll get this one in on time, though i'm meating the girlfriend tomorrow so i might be impeded a little bit. i'll be in touch.

Lol, you and i apparently differ on the definition of fluffy. I consider fluff to be the only thing that helps define a setting. You can say whatever you want about how the game setting is, but unless you actually give the person a feeling regarding it, you're totally not getting it across.

I think that is why settings like Eberron in DnD are successful; they are super fluffy and just take an existing concept, spice it up, give some naration, a couple comic book borders and now the people know that you're in Pulp fiction DnD.

I've pretty much finished designing the game mechanics system. I'm hoping to get this done sooner than later, i'm afraid this may be a failed attempt at a game that has much more potential than my last one.

I've started to combine elements of wargame strategy and Risk into a working world map which is affected by the actions the characters take in small battles in which they fight and gain experience. The more battles they win, the more respect they get in their faction and the more leadership role they are given. This may be far too big a game to actually get done in 24 hours, but it may be more playable than other games that can be produced in such an ammount of time. I'm going to push ahead, but i'm prepared for the fact that this undertaking may be too much for one day... perhaps if i had two, it would be finished for sure.

My definition of fluff is quite tight and is all that stuff that doesn't help you play the game. Narrative, stories based in the setting and all feel is all fine. Descriptions about why this game is better than X or long history is not.

Sounds like you're ploughing on!

I get what you're saying. I don't really even call that fluff to be honest, though my knowledge of gaming vocabulary is vastly limited, just as the number of different games i've played. I always considered that to just be filing, though i will admit, i like having history in my games. I suppose that is my juicy cream filling.

The game is grinding now. Getting out some of the world elements and trying to figure out if i can actually define all the equipment, mutations, gifts of undeath, and demonic visages that i can put into the game and still get it in on time... bear with me.

well, i'm throwing in the towel. i've got some plans for tomorrrow which now will be taking up all my time, so i'm not going to have the time to finish this within 24hrs. I am up to 22 pages and i've barely breached the surface of what i actually want to do with the game. I'll post what i have tomorrow night in a pdf, but it won't be complete.

I'd still love feedback on it when i post it. I'm sure it'll get posted somewhere as a free RPG. Hopefully somebody will play it and enjoy it, not just read it as a competition entry.
