I have so many things to reply to I don't know where to start. First, I liked Signs a while ago but I understand why you don't like it, Chris. I also have begun to see the new AVP previews and I have to say that it looks badass. The special effects really look good and it appears to have a good story. Chronicles of Riddick was actually a better movie than I expected. The story was better than the previews made it look and it is the only character that I like Vin Diesel in. I think that they used to much special effects in some parts and I didn't like the ending, but overall I would recommend it.

Last, I have to agree with Patrick on Michael Keeton being the best Batman. He fit the mold of Batman which is a dark character in himself. I like Val Kilmer as an actor but I thought that he was wrong for the part. I also think that the movie with George Clooney playing the part should be forever removed from our minds.

no, i think the man is dead sexy and if i was a woman.......wait i went to far. He isnt a good superhero though. His best work in my mind is the role of Doc Holiday in "Tombstone" Brilliant!

I totally agree with Patrick on that. Val Kilmer was awesome as Doc Holiday.

Signs of the time

Postby jedivampire » Tue Jun 22, 2004 9:50 am

Signs was good and still is good. Most people don't like it because they want to pigeon hold M. Night into having a twist ending. Well the ending was a twist because it wasn't a twist ending.

Clooney was probably the best Bruce Wayne, worst Batman. M.K. was the best overall (both Bruce & Batman) and I would agree that Kilmer was the worst of both. Let's hope that Christian Bale is better.

But it was a twist ending. It had all these random aspects of the movie woven into a contrived climax where innocuous items were not as they seemed.

It was bad. It was 12th grade love-fiction bad.

But the build-up was cool. Mel Gibson in the cornfield was a very tense scene.

Yeah, the build up was great. I really liked the home video where we see the blurry alien. Nice and legitimately nervous scene.

I guess that is why I hate Signs so much. A lot of the movie is quite good. But the parts that are bad are so despicably bad that it ruins an otherwise enjoyable movie.

You either get really good scenes or really poorly written scropt... nothing inbetween.

random stuff...

Postby basket1544 » Sat Jun 26, 2004 9:26 am

Chronicles of Riddick was great, I went back the second time for the previews though - a prequel to the Exorcist, a full preview of AVP (I might actually sit down and watch all the Alien(s) and Predators all the way through, and a great preview for Gwen- I mean Arthur. (That was at Valley View's new theater.)
My vote on Batman is Michael Keaton, George Clooney was the best Bruce Wayne because he didn't have to act that part and we all know Clooney is a better actor when he plays himself. Kilmer sucked at both.
Cold Mountain is coming out to DVD and the commercials look good. I never saw it because it looked like a sappy romance, now they are touting it as "the best Civil War movie ever made".
I thought Prisoner of Azkaban was good, with the exception of Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley)'s script. I thought it was better than the previous two, but I also thought POA's book was better.
And now I am going to add my name to the bottom (unlike most of you guys out there...)
