Is this site strictly for RPG developement?

Postby WittyDroog » Sun Jan 31, 2010 5:27 pm

Other than being new and the ignorance inherent to that, I don't see too much of development outside of the RPG world. Naturally this could just be a taste thing, or that there hasn't been a need to step outside, or the third and most likely option that I simply haven't delved deep enough into the site to see anything.

I ask this because my gaming group and I have been tweaking all kinds of games and game types, and sharing some of them with you all would be nice. The current project is trying to fix WarHammer 40k, it's not terrible in fact a lot better than before, but there are still weird oddities. And of course my latest wargaming project is whimical naval battles in steampunk flair (not the edgy cool kind, the kind with Frogs wearing victorian outfits and big Admiral hats) based loosely off FASA's Crimson Skies, and I'd love to get feedback and suggestions on these types fo projects.

Just curious, feel free to hurl your bricks.

I think Roleplaying games has been the focus because there are more roleplayer offering free RPG systems than wargamers. I imagine that most of the community (like me) will have played a fair amount of wargames in their time as gamers so would be happy to field ideas. Make sure you mark your posts clearly so we all know that a system or mechanic is wargame based.

I do wonder how many replies you'll get!

While I tend to the serious I love all of the FASA board like games such as Crimson Skies, Renegade Legion, Centurian, Interceptpr, and Leviathan so that stuff I would like to see personally.

I have been primarily a wargamer since childhood. I only started RPGs in October. We used to play DnD as a skirmish wargame 100% combat. It wasn't until I joined a game with an experienced GM that i realised what i'd been missing all these years!

Wargames I play
WH40k (Space marines obviously *sigh)
LOTR (Isanguard ; Yay uruk-hai)
Fields of Glory 28mm historical
Hoard of the Things 15mm Fantasy
Rules of engagement 28mm WW2

Alright, let me do the classic locker room measurement.

40k (I've played Imperial Guard, Tyranids, Black Templar, Eldar, Chaos Marines, and currently Orks)
WarHammer Fantasy (Empire, Beastmen, Warriors of Chaos, Vampire Counts, Tomb Kings, currently Dark Elves)
Battlefleet Gothic (Imperial Navy only, forever...)
Blood Bowl (Almost every team, currently Ogre, "The Ironcrag Crushers")
Firestorm Armada (Dindrenzi, ships are FAR too badass looking)
AT-43 (Therians)
Flames of War (Late Era, 12th SS-Panzerdivision "Hitlerjugend", not a Nazi sympathizer, I just find the 12th's story incredibly fascinating. Look it up sometime.)

You lost me just after "Firestorm Armada"

I played a lot of Spacemarine/Epic when I was a wee lad and I've enjoyed Babylon 5 wars at conventions. I own Silent Death but haven't played that since school. I own blood bowl but the seemingly random nature of it gets on my protuberances.
