It has been a while since I posted, and I see the same for a lot of people. There's no rush to finish, but at the same time, I hope people aren't losing steam.

My own project has been put aside, not for lack of ideas, but because I realized I needed to practice some writing techniques. I tend to over plan every detail before writing it down, but that information-dense style used by some cyberpunk authors, which I will be trying to emulate, requires a bit of practice. So, I'm taking a bit of time away from the game to write a romance novella, just to build up some trust in my own writing abilities. It's being done with a minimum of prep notes and written by hand, just so I'm forced to go with the flow and grab inspiration when it comes.

What sort of things are you working on, if you aren't finished already?

Yeah, I need to finish my current cyberpunk project before I can start on this. So everything is still on the idea level.

Any feedback is appreciated. I had questions that no one answered. ;_;
I also do which isn't much, but it's enough for me.

@Koipond - which questions were those? I've had a look through your thread but I can see any questions. Please do pose them again and we'll see if we can help! :)

I've hit a bit of a snag when doing research. I tried reading the forums of the right-wing populist folks who are in power in my setting, and got so violently disgusted that I was unable to continue. Continue reading, mind you, not continue writing, but I have to confess I'm proceeding more slowly than I had hoped. Well, last night my Star Wars campaign continued after a few months of silence, and this weekend I'm finishing a card game project that's been in hiatus for years, so I think it's a good time for creative pursuits. ^_^

There's plenty of time left and I imagine that things will hot up as we approach the deadline. ;)

My usual poor work ethic has really gotten in the way. I actually wanted to get this done in something like two weeks and then try to focus on the other projects I've been delaying since 2006... Researching old BESM stuff to try and run a game based on Shadows of Chernobyl has also been a distraction of late, and in a week or two Passover cleaning starts. Oi.

I do have ideas for a combat system, and potential psychological stats (ie is the goal of your character freedom, transfiguration, etc) - but mechanics for social/psyche are always a bit difficult. I don't like morale issues in war games because I find they slow the action down and who wants a bunch of card chits or metal miniatures deciding to ignore you. (Even inanimate objects don't follow your orders - how pathetic is that?) This is a bit worse when its supposed to be a character you're actually acting through - I never used the horror factor rule in Rifts because it didn't seem right that active mercenaries, demon hunters, psychics etc would be all that spooked by some of the creatures they faced.

It occurs to me that the combat system from Sacred Steel would fit in my game very nicely, but I prefer to create myself over eclectic-izing from others, even if the game is open to modification.

In the meantime I've actually started working on a short story/potentially a second CP game. Its written in the most cliche/homage film noir style about a Brave New World type society. In short, to avoid school shootings and other crimes of passion, everyone needs to be medicated to the gills on lithium/Prozac/Ritalin and similar drugs. This of course means that being too emotional is a crime, and there is an active drug free counter culture. There is an element of police only protecting good citizens - people who cheat on taxes or refuse to take their pills get worse or no service. Private groups and off the books insurance schemes, combined with local first movements attempt to address this - giving further PC plot hooks.

Then of course, there is my long neglected Fantasy Punk game Edge Knights. Mega Kingdoms control rail roads and use crystal balls like security cameras for that good old oppressive atmosphere. Furthermore, they maintain difference engines to track metal production, so all swords and suits of armor are licensed and nominally under government control. Hence more emphasis on clubs/knives than the usual broadswords and pole-arms of most fantasy. Mages are reality hackers who draw from the LAN - Local Aura Nexus - to power magic. The more RAM, and the greater processing time - equals a greater effect possible.

Of course, its not like I don't already have a gun-heavy simple syste
Games of imagination are never truly done. Yet tomorrow we shall start another one.

my new RPG blog.

I'm so excited! I've worked on a few different little projects in the past, but this will be my first full game!

I'm more of a writer than a game designer really, so the setting and aesthetic are both clear in my mind; the tough part is getting it across with the mechanics.

Any help or comments for this greenhorn would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, I can't wait to see all these cool Cyberpunk games, although I'm keeping my eyes on my own work at the moment.

Ahhhhhh ... Bleeding Edge is done and submitted.

100k words later I'm all ready to take a break and then try to work on Another Cyberpunk project. ^_^

I'm gonna get a couple of games of Penny in and see what I can do for making a sheet for that, with a couple of modifications. Then I'm going to also try to maybe include using this rule set for one of the games:

The author likes the Primer, but thinks the rest of the stuff he's written needs to be cleaned up. He's right, but it's an idea for someone who might want to use it.
I also do which isn't much, but it's enough for me.
