My first submission: Sword & Spell

Postby pooka_bwee » Tue Dec 22, 2009 1:27 am

Hi all,

Keeton's has just posted my first submission to 1km1kt, a generic fantasy RPG called Sword & Spell.

It's basicly a simplified version of Xavier Raoult's Warriors, Wizards and Wanderers. It's pretty much an "old-school" type of game but closer to Fighting Fantasy than AD&D 1E....in other words, rules I can actually remember whilst playing....

I'm currently working on a campaign supplement and with that in mind, i'd like some feedback on how it looks, how it plays etc.

cheers

PB

Well everything I could have said has been communicated far more effectivly by Mr Thought.

I will add that critisism is good, use it, improve your work from it. :)

I quake at the thought of submitting now.

For anyone whose interested, I've just submitted S&S version 1.1.

You still won't find any artwork and the layout's the same but the presentation is, I think, greatly improved especially with novice gamers in mind.

There has also been some minor rules "tweeking" (all penalty/bonus situations now simply half/double Challange Rolls instead of applying numerical penalties, all monster special abilities require the spending of POW, Wanderers can attempt feats) and some additional rules for things like disease.

What you won't find is an introductory adventure. That's currently being rewritten as it got a little bit bigger than I'd intended but is something I'm hoping present with version 1.2 later on in the year.

S&S Version 1.2 has just been submitted to Keeton.

The changes include a new initiative rule, a new logo and a few pages on how to covert OGL/3.5 characters and monsters to S&S....
