Way of the Samurai RPG by apc107

Postby Apc107 » Tue Oct 12, 2010 9:58 am

This is a project i have just started on this weekend, set in the edo period in JAPAN. It is a soilitare rpg about 3 clans at odds in the land of Amana. You can join either sides or stay a ronin (a samurai without a master). It has deep (but not too complex battle system), Interaction with NPCs, 4 mini games (3 dice based, and one is Samurai sudoku). THere is quests, events that happen depending on the time, where your at, day your on, people you have killed, and your alignment. Im going to try to have at least 10 ending. You are a samurai, you choose your destiny. TIPS, COMMENTS, FEED BACK 4 FEED BACK IS OPEN. (F4F is when you give feedback and i give feedback when i am finished.) Thank you.

Don't worry - just keep at it.

In fact, I would call this development a blessing in disguise. My usual method is to work in spiral notebooks to get most of the math and ideas worked out. Thus I have my first draft, and changes/improvements/expansions can be added in as I type. Going over the same text on screen rather gets rather tedious, and strains my eyes so my editing suffers if I don't work like this.

Various ways of converting to PDF are available for free, though some leave watermarks or can only work with certain file sizes/formats. I think "Google Docs" can do it without such limitations. The open source office suite "" is free, effective, and has a PDF conversion system built in (just click the icon in the tool bar) - its what I use for all my typing.

This sounds like an interesting project. Good luck with it, and I'll gladly help if you need it.
Games of imagination are never truly done. Yet tomorrow we shall start another one.

my new RPG blog.

Thanks for the advice, i seem to work better typing though. Ive tried making rpg from spiral, i even almost finshed one (Ubran dead, another solitare rpg) all i had left to do was the most boring thing to do, it had alot going for it. but back to this game, infact as soon as you commented i downloaded a PDF converter from an addvertisement on this website, i dont know if it works or not though.

Im crossing my fingers that this will be a unquie experience for all the players, and stand out from the crowd (hard to do with all the unquie games i find on 1km1kt, It was going to be about ninja's but i know nothing about them, and ALOT ab out samurai. I havent seen any of your games i think, send me a link and I'll check 'em out if you want.

Keep going! That's the best advice I can give anyone. Don't give up and just plough on. It isn't very interesting doing things by hand (and I type much faster than I write) but if you have no choice then I recommend doing it on paper. Is there a public library nearby you can use a computer in?

Wait until its playable. You can always share the google doc so we can have a look at the draft but only complete games should go onto 1km1kt.
