oh and now that i am further along in the game i have come to realize that not meeting the system requirements is bad. my processor isnt fast enough so yeah. very sad
Totally amazing. It is the only game during which I have actually been too scared to continue. The graphics are astounding, and the sound effects are creepy. The engine they created for this game is getting me very excited for the next series of engines to be expected in the industry. Good solid gameplay, amazing graphics, terrific sound, and a good storyline to boot. Definately a winner. I give it a 5 out of 5.
2) The repetition of badguys. People were complaining about a formulaic "enter, wait for the creature to come from the shadows, BLAST, BLAST, BLAST, collect the trophy, move on to the next room, ad infitium."
The flashlight is annoying, but it's necessary for the story. In the matter of keeping it realistic... in a situation such as the one you find yourself in all you will have to see with is your flashlight. Flashlights don't provide a whole lot of light. Plus, not being able to see much helps prohibit complaint number 2. If you can't see where they come from then you can't prepare for their entry. Doom 3 is a game best played at night, in the dark, with no one around to bother you. It is an atmosphere game. Every game, especially an FPS, gets monotonous. Doom 3 is good enough with graphics, sound, and gameplay to overlook the monotony. What everyone has to remember is that with video games everything has to be coded in which means scripted scenes and lack of total creativity. That's what dice and paper is for.
