Steampunkfitters

Postby Onix » Mon Dec 26, 2011 12:48 pm

It's rudimentary but I've launched our new game .

I'm experimenting with the idea of a constitutional monarchy for game development. The basic game is there and we're playtesting but there are so many ways this game could go, I'd like to see where other people would take it.

I'm hoping to get some artwork done for the game either by me or others. I've also got to do some outreach to some traditional steampunk outlets. Anyone have suggestions?

Do you want the content in the book on the wiki? I'd almost recommend it so that the wiki can double as a sort of reference with the pdf being the fancy version. That way players would also not have to bounce between resources. It's your call, but if you're interested I could help.

There's the game PDF, and the wiki. Ideally yes, eventually I'll be putting up all the content into the wiki.

You're welcome, Emmett! I enjoyed reading about it.

The comment about space is that you don't have many words on a page. The font is large and although this is cool to read on a monitor, it means that when printed you go through a lot of paper. I'd reduce the font size a touch, add more columns (which has the side effect of increasing the amount of words per page) and reduce the line spacing (which will come when you reduce font size). I love a bit of white space but it can make it expensive to print so you need to find a balance you're happy with.

Ah, Understood, As you noted before the type on The Artifact is 9 pt and seems too small. I've been putting the sourcebooks at 10 pt and that seems more readable. I was going for maximum readability but 12 point is apparently too big.

I wrote up a how to but I might have gone too meta on it.

Okay, I updated the file, added a bit more play description and how to proceed in play from a beginner's perspective. I chickened out of rewriting the Character vs Character and the Skill Test example but I'll get to that. I put things in three columns and made the type smaller.

I'm thinking about setting. The thing is, I want the setting to be flexible, that the world can be rewritten each time the players play. So on the one hand the setting is Victorian earth or later with whatever story seeds the player's choose. It might be a good idea to delve into each story seed on the blog, that way it isn't just a word or two that the GM has to interpret.

I'm also still not coming up with a character sheet. :(
