Thanks for bringing it back.

The Forge has wandered off on a path of its own for a while. When I first got to it almost six years ago, it had already formalised its theories on game design. Any further posts had to be backed up with actual play material, and in most cases the actual play posts had to be filtered through the lenses on GNS and "the big theory" before any discussion could commence...by that stage, any development of theory is seriously constrained.

Story Games is pretty insular, with a specific crowd of people talking about specific games and how good they are...rather than discussing how the hobby could be transformed, improved or generally looking at the nitty-gritty of how it works. There are a few good threads every now and then, but they are rare.

Don't even get me started on RPGNet.

But I'm starting to see some great threads about game design here...from the development of game mechanisms, through to aspects like play experience, and even publishing.

It's great to see somewhere that this sort of stuff is discussed again.

So I just wanted to say thanks.

I've been reading through quite a few of the threads, and will hopefully be contributing a bit more soon.

I think the thing that has allowed for that has to do with the boards diversity. You have both game designers and players, heavy mechanic to rules lite, first person character experence to enviromental player control.....to put it bluntly so many differing view that are and *in best MOD voice* WILL play nice its hard not to benifit. I am glad to see you are enjoying all of it, we will mostly bring more to the table as time goes on.

thank you as well

I think the reason 1km1kt does so well is that we're open to everything. I've never seen a concept shot down for being too much anything, though some do get shot down for being too similar to others or too underdeveloped.

In other news, I'm still trying to come up with an engaging thing for Drifting other than just "wandering spacemen" which is pretty weak.

I write frequent on game development, storytelling, or life in general, in case you want to follow what I'm up to.

I'd like to chime in and say that I greatly appreciate the environment as well. Though one shouldn't undervalue the people as well: the regulars are really friendly and enthusiastic.

Thumbs up for the friendly community! I read Forge, but only as a lurker... I never post. Somehow the atmosphere of the community prevents me from it. It's also to big. I can't keep track of everything. Here, on the other hand, it's cosy, warm and we drink hot chocolate and a wise monkey reads me fairytales before bed and in the morning the monkey-mother makes pancakes! She also keeps tidying my bedroom, even though I've aksked her a hundred times not to do so because I can't find anything in her so called order.

All Hail our Glorious Benefactor.

I think we need another Glorious Benefactor thread, or a resurrection of the old one. It is a new year after all.
I also do which isn't much, but it's enough for me.
