Hi, folks!

My name is Joe, I'm a curious novice homebrewer. I like to think of myself as a concept maven, because I'm great at puking out reams and reams of wild ideas. Every root brings to my mind dozens of possible new branches and seeds. The downside is, I never bloody finish anything, because I always get distracted by a new concept. So yeah, I'm your man if you need a fellow brainstormer. Just remember to hit the off switch and put me back in the broom closet with the other defective AIs when I start going off on tangents.

My current projects are loosely babbled about . Also, I enjoy making campaign/world musical themes and soundscapes. So if you have a cool scene, location, or campaign that you'd like me to cobble together a soundtrack for, shoot me a message!

Welcome to 1km1kt.net.

Its always nice to see another fiction writer around here. If you need some feedback on your settings, most of us are story focused.

We're also very good at helping design mechanics that bring out themes in play, so if you're looking for how to make a game that brings out the greatness of your settings, you're in the the right place.

Can you tell us a bit more about what games you have played in the past, and what you look for in an RPG? How about some more details about these great settings?

Enjoy your stay.
Games of imagination are never truly done. Yet tomorrow we shall start another one.

my new RPG blog.

Schlebbagoinzogarf! Yeah, I heard you guys were whiz kids at all of the above, Chainsaw. Definitely looking forward to spilling my literary and dice-mechanical guts to you all after I've pounded off some grunt work. Right now, my current project just needs a ton of elbow grease, and I don't really need help or guidance with it, just keyboard fingers and lots of note-referencing.

Right, RP resumé. I played AD&D a bit when I was 16, but I was pretty spaced out on acid in those days. After that all-too-magical summer of weird maps and shiny ideas in the basement, things kind of went off the deep end for a while. I woke up in Norway 4 years later, found myself a girl, moved in with her, and discovered play-by-post RPG. I frequented a lot of fantasy sites, and even hosted my own sci fi pbp site for 3 years, but it didn't really catch on, because I couldn't be bothered to advertise and mess around with forumy admin stuff. I still do some pbp, but it's kind of lost its shine for me. Too much awkward, "let's not step on the other character's toes" writing. These days, I'm leaning more towards the kind of collaborative writing that doesn't tie each player down to one character and one viewpoint, but allows the players to build more freely on each other's ideas.

When I learned the language, I discovered , which is a really cool Fudge game rooted in Norwegian folklore. From there, it was D20 Conan, WoD, and over the past year or so, a weekly AD&D night with some buddies. I've also been struck with violent, feverish bouts of Don't Rest Your Head, (which kind of sneak up on you, you return to consciousness in a foreign chat room whose URL has dodgy numbers in it, with a smelly, leering dicebot and a bewildering scroll history, feeling rather dirty,) and I've pored over oodles of pdf docs for indie games. I continue to pore as I research and explore systems and design standards for my own game.

As for settings, um... not really sure if I have anything ready-made and floating about the internet that I could show you. I've now posted a little tidbit here that's open for collaboration: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=4209

For me, I think it's my love of setting-specific game mechanics. I don't like things that feel welded-together, and even Fudge can be clunky if you don't put a lot of effort into making it mesh smoothly with your setting.

Plus, the simple urge to create, you know?
