Howdy doody!

Postby catty_big » Sun Apr 15, 2012 5:54 pm

Good Mooooooooorning 1km1kt (have just spotted a mention of Good Morning Vietnam in my TV guide). Or is it afternoon? Or evening? Anyway, er, hello!

I'm a 47 yo RPer based in East London, fairly new to this sector of the hobby (been RPing 1.5 yrs, add two yrs to that for BGing).

Because of the point in time that I got into roleplaying I've been riding the wave of hippie indie stuff- Dogs, Fiasco, Umlaut, Microscope, Dead of Night etc.- and haven't so far dipped much more than a couple of toes and a thumbnail (or was that my left index finger?) into the more trad end of the spectrum. I've played Hex, Victoriana and Regime Diabolique but, although they're all player party adventures, the GM (who is co-incidentally my co-writer), being also a LARPer, has a tendency to freeform a lot of the time, which makes for some very interesting and enjoyable gaming experiences.

I'm also keen on a number of games using variations of the much-excoriated BRP system, including Laundry Files, which is one of my favourites as I love the source material. In fact, I heard Charles Stross talk about his latest book at Satellite 3, in Glasgow, in February. The books are absolutely hilarious, especially if you have any experience of British bureaucracy and red tape (e.g. 'You can't just waltz in here and requisition a load of lazguns. You've got to sign form LZG-320 in triplicate, get it stamped upstairs and come back here. I don't care if the Earth's been invaded by soul-sucking aliens, it's more than my job's worth').

We've also been working on our own game (don't worry, I'll not mention it here- I dislike the Queen's shilling as much as anyone) which I've posted about elsewhere. In addition, I'm thinking of starting a blog, as this seems to be a good way of reaching a large number of peeps quickly, and is a good excercise for a budding writer.

Ok so, um, that's me.

Look forward to chatting wit' youse guys.

Cheers
Leo

Hey Leo,

Go ahead and talk shop, let us know about the big project, you're among like minded game makers here.*

What's your big hook for your game? Is it story or system?

*Well, like minded may be stretching it, we're all pretty different. Let's just say, friendly game makers.
