LOL

Well let's put it this way . . . if it DOES happen . . .
I wont be having to leave some city to find food . . .
I can just go out my front door

Aklavik = Was the Muskrat Trapping Capital of the World back in the
50's and 60's. It's home & burial site of the Mad Trapper of Rat River.
We are a Fly-in/Boat-in community during the Spring, Summer and Fall, then during winter
we get Ice Roads . . . if you've ever seen IRT on History/Discovery you'll know
what I'm talking about.

I like to think of myself as pleasantly isolated

That's some place to live!!

I live in a 10+ million megapolis... Sometimes, mostly during summers, when I get to a forest or anything, I usually have to lay down on the ground to get used to the silence or that I have stars above my head.

Where I live, if there were a civilization ending catastrophe we probably wouldn't notice. I live near buffalo ny. The civilization here has already collapsed.

My first reaction to the post's title was "Of course, it beats the alternative..." After that the reaction was "of course, I'd like to help." I'm just lacking in any really good photos of me at the moment. On the other hand, there is a camera sitting on my desk.

Would you simply like normal photos, or do you want the stock a bit staged? I have a gas mask, air filters, various types of cammo and army coats, ammo tins, camping gear and so forth around the home. (We used to go camping a lot and be active with boy scouts - we're not a survivalist cult)

If I search, the pictures of me in Israel should be around here somewhere - including me with a tank, on Masada, and riding a camel. Got a nature of your apocalypse in mind?

Actually, I might want to use some of your pictures in Dead and Back, I will need some real artwork eventually. Could we work something out?
Games of imagination are never truly done. Yet tomorrow we shall start another one.

To those who are interested in followin the project, I'll be using a version of earth that I devised a couple of years ago.

It works on the premise that a geomagnetic shift occurs, throwing the earth off balance, and causing huge disruptions in the planetary spin. Since the earth is a huge magnet, this off-kilter spin means that a catastrophic EMP is released globally. When the spin settles down, the poles have radically altered, with the north pole in Madagascar (I chose this as a random point initially, but I like how it altered the world, so it stuck). The world spins with an axis through Madagascar and a point a few thousand kilometres off the coast of California.

(Click image for a zoomed in version)

I have a few more detailed maps being worked on.

The result of this is that our Russian and Canadian friends will find their new world far more fertile...perhaps not the Western Russians because an EMP would disable any nuclear safety protocols and a rain of radioactive fallout would devastate the landscape, and mutate the survivors. Europe and the US would similarly be utterly wasted by nuclear radiation. Anywhere with seizmic activity would be devastated (New Zealand, Japan, California, Iceland, etc.) Anywhere with high population concentrations would be subject to pandemics, rioting and worse.

That's before we even introduce any supernatural elements.

If ideas like this inspire you, I'd be happy to accept costumed shots. But otherwise I'm having fun adding the costuming and post-apocalyptic equipment for myself.

After working on some other projects, here is a surviving face from 1km1kt.

Hopefully, a few more survivors will be depicted over the next week or so.

The sword seems kinda off, especially in the lower part, but otherwise, great job! You can't go wrong with a shoulder pad  A single shoulder pad just screams post-apocalyptic.

I redrew the pencils for the sword a few times, varying the size, the angle, the style of blade...some of them just didn't fit with the pose at all, they totally looked wrong.

I finally went with the option that seemed to fit best. Your right, it's not 100% right, but it was pretty close and since I had a few more images to get on with, I just inked it in. I might go back to it and revise it later.

In a couple of days I'll post a couple of the other images from this batch.
(or you could just head over to my deviantArt profile...)

Yeah, those things can be tricky... But overall the drawings are really good, I bookmarked your dA page for further browsing!

Those "Alice in Derby Land" pieces - are they for your Hell on Eight Wheels project or just some random art?
