We have another in-joke: JK Mosher - Abuse Engine

Postby Rob Lang » Mon Jul 02, 2012 6:13 am

So this funny thing happened when I was on holiday. A bot came in and littered a load of the threads with adverts. It happens. Annoying and I normally catch it first thing in the morning (UK time), so those in the North American Landmass don't see 'em (they're sleeping/partying then). All good.

Except one day J K Mosher took offence to a bot going on a rampage and insulted it on every thread. I feel your pain, JK. Bots here are normally actually humans in the far east paid sub-minimum wage, so they can't be stopped with the usual bot captcha questions. This community spirited rage is fun and I approve of it!

A friendly mod popped in and burned all the bot posts. This left JK's insults in place, making it look like he's just having a go at everyone. Which is really funny. You'll have threads where people are talking about game X or idea Y and then suddenly J K's bot-hate post will be there, out of context, flaming for no apparent reason.

I've contemplated taking them out but it's funny to see paladin turned troll with one easy mod action. If peeps find them upsetting, I'll take them out but I do hope you see the lighter side of it! :D

Haha, it was confusing for a moment there, and I had to ask for clarification, but yeah, definitely leave 'em up. Forum goof-ups ought to be made light of. I like that spirit.

I saw! I read backwards through the posts when I return after a spell away and I couldn't believe my eyes. I always thought JK was a mild mannered chap. It seems he has weak spot - bots! ;)

Now I'm going to have to go trawling the forum to find these abuse posts...

Fun...almost like a tainted scavenger hunt.
