Star Punk

Postby Onix » Sun Nov 03, 2013 12:47 pm

I'm starting my 24 hours at 1 PM Nov 3rd.

I've been wanting to do a space opera for a while. Lets see how this works out. :o

I don't have a mechanic yet. I'm thinking about a player that's defending from an action being able to negate or replace a word in a narrated action. But that doesn't seem watertight yet. Let's see what I come up with.

Nope, I had a different mechanic come to mind. It's looking like this is a mostly free narrative game. The characters will have traits that describe things. If they narrate using their trait, it's assumed the narration is accepted unless it's blocked by another character's trait. Blocking a narration causes the characters involved to take conditions. Once a character's condition slots are full, the character is out of play unless they burn a trait.

Oh, and these aren't boring traits. You're encouraged to be as nuts as you want. Examples are things like, “Manipulates matter at the atomic level”, “Super intelligent alien”, “Time Traveller”, “Fleet Admiral”, “Can’t be hurt”, “Carries a nuke" or “Shoots megawatt lasers from eyes”.

So far I'm still looking at one of the pockemod's pages being blank. I'm trying to think of something that will spice things up even more to fill it with. A catch to make this complete. (Don't suggest anything, I have to do this on my own.)

The writing is done. I'm going to do some art, make a few characters and then think about the game for a bit. I might get a chance to play test tonight or tomorrow with the kids.

It's all in one pocket mod and I even burned half a page with an index.

That extra page was used up by giving the GM some world tools. He creates a trait that is against the players, one that's for the players, and one that is neutral.

Cover art is done. Didn't get to play test. Made a few tweaks to the layout so the printer wouldn't cut off the text. I wonder if it would print the same on a different printer?

As usual I forgot the licensing and to attribute myself. Fixed.

My son made a character that can "Control Planets" as in smash planets into each other. Not any normal telekinesis mind you, this only works on planets. I asked him how he could be a hero if he ever used that trait. He resigned himself to being a villain. :???:

Made a few tweaks to the text, I think that's about it. I thought about adding some kind of graphic for the background, but I'm afraid it would reduce readability. The pages are about as packed as they can get. I added some color contrast for headings to spice things up a bit.

We didn't do a full play test, but we bandied about how the characters could defeat Keeton in the example adventure using various traits.

My daughter caught my reference to Dr. Who and that got her interested in the game.

Submitted! I can't think of anything else to do with the thing. It's already insane enough.
