How do you decide what to do next?

So, I'm done with my latest project and now I have a whole bunch of ideas to choose from. I've talked with chums about what they think I should do with Icar but how do you choose what to create next?

Do you filter? Keep lists? Is it on a whim or based in a monetary idea?

Since I started working on Street Rats, I've had three guiding metrics.

First, if someone tells me to do something, I do it.
Second, I follow whatever my whim is, to avoid being burned out.
Third, if there's nothing in particular I do whatever is next on the priority queue.

This has led to a couple of times when Street Rats has seen very little growth.

Between FOURS and a project that I can't announce yet (it's a supplement for a game), I've written about 15,000 words this week, which is a pace I'd never hit working on Street Rats alone since it's mature enough that I don't have hordes of content that I can write for it happily. For instance, both FOURS and the project I'm working on have NPC generation, which has sort of been my kick this week. I'm hoping that this week NPC generation and weapon mods make it into Street Rats, though since today is the "update day" and I haven't really started on them (and there's some other stuff that needs to be done, like putting the entrails of the flight system into something resembling a sane body of text), I'm not sure how much of that will happen.
