What is a non-copyrighted way of saying Muppets?

Friendly Monsters?
Puppet Friends?

Have you run across any ways of referring to Muppets without being litigated to death. (Not that anyone would notice if i made a muppet game.) On the one hand, there is the "This is a work of parody" defense. It's not like the internet isn't already awash in Muppet references.

I have had this sketch from The State in my head called Eating Muppet. I think it could be a fun one shot game. I'm planning on working it up for my friends to play, but I'm trying to figure out if I should just use the Muppet name, or try some derivative?

My first thought was calling them "Meeples", like they call the small figures you use in worker distribution board games... (e.g. Carcassonne)

Don't know why.

All my other ideas sound like gothic horror.
Felt Fiends.
Fabric Fiends.
Beasts of Rag.
Pocket Monsters --- nnnnnnnope, copyrighted ;-)

Meeples could work, accompanied by artwork to steer the reader back to Muppets.

I almost like Felt Friends. Although it works against the idea of people wanting to eat them. All I imagine is a mouth full of felt.

Wait wait! What about?

A portmanteau of meat and puppets, which sounds a whole lot better than .

Maybe Mahppets? Maappets? I don't know.
