And I'm cool with that. But what do we do, and what will we see, in the meantime?

Should I just hit the forums once a day? ;)

That's basically what I'm doing. I figure I'll try to provide some review and feedback on other people's games, hopefully get some in return.

So, when we get the end result of the contest, are they going to post a review of every game up, or just announce the winner, or how does this go?

Well, we could start taking bets

Here's a few ideas:

- The offical Game Chef isn't awarding marks for art or layout. So let's vote our own award for the best looking submission. Or the funniest. Or something else. Suggestions?

- IRON GAME REVIEWER!!! 36 games, 6 weeks. Can you complete a capsule review of every game entered for the competition? I'm seriously considering this, but I don't know if I'll be able to do them justice. Anyone people want to share the burden with me? maybe we could have 6 reviewers and 6 games each. If we finish, we'll take a different 6 games.

- Arrange our own playtests.

- Just talk about shit. Get better acquainted. I don't think we've all been properly introduced to each other yet. That wouldn't be a bad way to start.

I'm trying to get my weekly group on board for some playtesting tomorrow, and The Dinner Party tops my list. I'll let you know if they go for it, and if so what game we choose, and how it goes. Actaully, if it happens, I'll cross post with Forge "Actual Play".

I think we could definitely have fun moving on as a community to the next phase - layout and visuals and playtest. When commenting on stuff now that we have a chance to read it, that strikes me as prime fodder for recommendations.

Obviously visuals weren't a priority for the contest, but just as obviously several of the most concrete submissions had art to go with the solidity of the piece. I think that says interesting things about the process... art and layout may not be required, but do seem to correlate with completeness of the text. Maybe some attention to these helps with the design process; I'd believe that. Anyone have confirmation or contradiction to this from their own work this last week?

As a note for those gauging layout etc., the PDF of The Last Supper is pending a fixup - the title and section headers (and cards) were not supposed to come out in Courier New, blech. So when you're looking at pretties, give Andy a day or two to correct this, and then look back. (That said, thank you, Jason - especially since the board literally happened in its entirety between 11:40 and 11:50PM EST on Sunday.)
