Well, I ran my one shot and everyone had a great time!!

My house rules weren't really used... except initiative and having armor effect initiative seems like a good way to discourage everyone from piling on the platemail without resorting to all that "class restriction" stuff.

All in all and enjoyable time.

Dungeon Squad works great as a one-shot.

I loved the concise nature of the Dungeon Squad rules. It was the ease of use and the smallness of the package that appealed to me. I actually liked that everything was there for me in just 4 pages.

It inspired me to submit my 24 Hour RPG (more like 4 to 6 hour... but there were many breaks and interuptions)... EZ Supers.

Its a 4 page package like Dungeon Squad... It's game mechanic is original and has no simularity to Dungeon Squad... it's just one of those, "lite RPG in a bite sized package" kind of submissions.

If you have a chance, check out EZ Supers... I'm really kinda proud of it.

Now that's it's done It actually "feels" like it should be very playable and I can see many ways that I might expand on it too.

EZ super

Postby bal3000 » Sun Nov 27, 2005 4:46 am

Hey bigcape,
Great to hear the DS session went down well. :D
I can't help tinkering with the system myself and am putting together Alternate Dungeon Squad 2nd edition at the moment. By the way , I am so ripping off the d14 rule. It'll fit nicely in play and will get rid of a cumbersome +1 rule that's just a stopgap.
EZ super looks great. haven't played it yet mind, but I'm adding it to my "short and Sweet " games list - DS, rule of 5 etc. Simple rules to cover everything. well done.

I'm glad to see people playing and enjoying Dungeon Squad! It's really cool that you are expanding it in directions that interest you. I'd love to hear about your experiences in play (Actual Play posts at the Forge, maybe?)

I've considered expanding it myself into a generic system using the basic mechanic, but supporting any genre that young people might find interesting - Princess Squad, Pirate Squad, Pokemon Squad, whatever. The key would be to retool character generation without adding a drop of complexity, I think.

i don't think that a "generic" Dungeo Squad system would work well, but maybe just a lot of other systems. One idea i had, and if u give me the ok i will go along with, is making a "Space Squad" game. What do you think?

-Michael
Space may be the final frontier
But it's made in a Hollywood basement
Cobain can you hear the spheres
Singing songs off station to station
And Alderon's not far away
It's Californication

Space Squad sounds cool.
were you thinking of something Retro ala " Flash gordon / star wars " or something grittier like Aliens / WH40K ?

Sorry for the laaaaaaate reply, but I really do hope you worked up Space Guys Squad. For the record, you don't need my permission at all - just follow the terms of the license, which require attribution, sharing alike, and non-commercial use.
