First question:
On "Character Generation": Does a Char Gen session where no actual play takes place, count as one of the sessions?

Yep. We're talking the whole shebang: " 'Character Generation' to 'Campaign End' ". ALL of that has to fit in the timeframe. We're talking sitting down to play to getting up and getting your coats to leave.

On "The Whole Experience": ...So if for instance there are traditional PCs in your game, each 'campaign' as it were would have to be with different PCs. A completely different experience could mean a lot of things I guess and it is also how one might define campaign.

Yeah, that's what I mean: A campaign. That is, after the play reaches its conclusion, that game/campaign/experience is over. No "let's continue playing with the same characters in a new adventure pretending that there was no time limit/[/i] (by stringing campaigns together). Rather, when you play again, you start over from scratch.

Think of the game CLUE: After the game is done, if you want to play again, you start over from the beginning (maybe with the same characters, maybe with new characters). Mister Black (or someone new, etc) still dies, the players run around gathering clues to find the murder, etc.

Does that mean that character generation is required? You have to have rules for how characters are made? Or can you have like premade characters?

And I assume that having a break (we tend to make food during a game) does "stop the clock" for the session?

But if it doesn't, it can always be done between sessions, right? Multiple sessions during one day isn't actually prohibited so I guess so.

Sessions, Sittings

Postby Joshua BishopRoby » Sat Mar 11, 2006 1:49 am

Do sessions have to take place on different days? I'm specifically looking at the 10 sessions x 1 hour option. Can the game be split up into ten sessions, some of which may be played after short breaks (meals and the like), say?
