So, who is actually using a timer?

Postby Hobert Roward » Sat Mar 11, 2006 10:25 am

Man, time is a weird thing to play with.

I was just curious, as I saw some references to people aiming to work their game in a way so that it MUST end on time (like, setting an egg timer every 1-2 hours, etc). Interesting idea. I'm thinking more along the lines of "making each session's rules such that it naturally plays out in that amount of time, with "heavy encouragement" to end if it looks like the hour limit might be broken".

Then there's the whole point of putting meaning into the time division. If I go for 3x3, should I just have the game be a logical progression with no real difference between the sessions? Or do I say "OK, it's session two. The rules are a little different this time. OK, it's session three now, the Endgame: THe rules work differently, and everyone gets an extra character to play", or soemthing weird like that.

Dang, brain bleeding. Damn you, Andy!!!
