Oh I am an old-school gamer I s'pose. At 32 yrs. old I've been playing on and off since around about '86 or so, but was interested in all this rpg jazz from before then (Endless Quest books and things like that.), unfortunately my parents were completely convinced of that whole "D&D is evil" mess so it made things none too easy.
I actually first played D&D with a friend who used the old Holmes Blue Book. The first game I ever owned believe it or not was MERP. Yeah. Imagine my exploding brain back then!

The rest is history.
Iron Gauntlets.
Hmm. I don't know what I could tell you that isn't already covered better than the Politically Incorrect Games site and the forums there. I know there's a forum over at RPG.net, I think called "sell me on Iron Gauntlets".
If you wanted to you could download the short and free lite version of the system it's based on: Impresa, over at
Then you'd know how it works. It's a dice pool system. It very modular, and just the overall way it's structured it's 'no muss, no fuss' with regards to dropping and adding stuff. It's wonderfully elegant. I would certainly recommend it if someone was looking for a fully fleshed out but rules-lite fantasy game.
There's also a good number of both free and cheap extras for it over at the site. They are working on an Iron Gauntlets Companion right now as well.
