Y'know it's not the coming up with the rules that's the trouble....it's SQUEEZING them onto a single page. It took me a couple of hours to knock out 3 pages of rules and a fortnight to whittle them down to size! Feel free to look over TROLL-BLADE and lemme know what you think.



HOWEVER, this is just the players guide to TROLL-BLADE. I'm working on a SINGLE page referee's guide to the game as well. Monsters, treasure and magic all on the 1 page as well.

What a delight. All of D&D in one page! Can't wait to see you add in all of the monsters and character classes and such, and then try to get those in on the one page. Seriously, you've done the deed for a "one-page-rpg" and if you're going to expand it then by all means put in a few more pages to get exactly what you want.

Don't understand equipment costs. You say A or B or C type items each cost a certain amount x die roll, but then you say "ordinary equipment..cost 2 coins each." Since there's then a special equipment section, which items of course cost a lot since they're magical, what are the A/B/C items if not either ordinary or special equipment?

On Task rolls, it is going to be impossible to do some things just because an ability score is 1 number low, and automatic to be able to so other things just because an ability is 1 number high. If, a normal task is attempted by someone with ability 9 (not clear if ability=task level is a subtraction or addition) then you subtract 10 from 9 and you're in negative numbers so the character can never do it. But, if he has ability 11 then you add 10 and you're over 20 so he can always do it.

On hand-to-hand combat, it will be nigh impossible to hit a dexterous character with a shield.

Way to get in the first submission for this challenge, and what a submission *Trollblade* is. One of the more complex one page RPGs I've seen, that's for sure. I am totally looking forward to the referee page you're working on. I may have a question or two once it's all said and done.

Last time around, we had a 1 pager that consisted of two pages. A two page 1 page RPG is not an oxymoron when you take into account that this is a challenge is supposed to be about making a game that is a character sheet too... since a character sheet can be two-sided, two 1 page RPGs can count as both sides of the character sheet. PDFs are so one-sided.
