Underworld Sequel

Not much, but I KNEW this was of interest. You really need a whole movie category on here.

Danny McBride Talks Underworld Sequel

The Trades talked to Underworld screenwriter and co-creator Danny McBride about the sequel in the works.

McBride confirmed that shooting will begin in the fall for a targeted 2005 release and that Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman have already signed on to reprise their respective roles.

McBride went on to say that he is currently preparing the outline for the second draft of the sequel and that the production team is in the middle of the development stages. "The new film will carry the story further as well as incorporate a few prequel sequences, which should be extremely cool."

He added, "Patrick Tatopoulos (the creature designer) has, par for course, created some fantastic new designs for the film. Len has been busy storyboarding and is gearing up for location scouting."

Hmm... well hopefully they can create the sequel without pissing off White Wolf this time.

I don't know what the outcome of the previous White Wolf suit was, but I'm sure they got a nice piece of the pie. Sony made back its money and thensome on the first movie -- it cost $23,000,000 to make and it nearly made that opening weekend alone.

I hope that White Wolf talks them into keeping the movie focused on the plot. Too often a sequel falls into the trap of extra CGI and not enough story line (see Chronicles of Riddick, Van Helsing, The Hulk, etc. for examples).
Time will tell, and I'm sure one way or another White Wolf will get their piece of the pie.
