This is a great game. For strength a Climb skill might be good. Maybe you could put in some weapon and armor based skills, like Pole Arm, or Thrown Weapons or something. Maybe it's better without weapon proficiency though.
Most people here have probably either played D&D or know something about it's mechanics. And, if by "easier", you mean "easier to play", then Adventurer RPG is way easier to play. You can probably adapt D&D source material to Adventurer if you want.
Just a note that I'm still here and still have this game in the back of my mind. With going back to school and working two jobs (and a promotion in one of those), I haven't had much time to work on anything fun.
