Rather than random titles, perhaps a better topic might be something a little more focussed like:

Movie Mashup 24 Hour RPG Compo. We give a list of movies and you need to choose two to do a mashup RPG game.

How does that sound?

 aw but dad! We made up some good ones! Alright I'm done whining.

That could be good too.

Movie types
Western (yawn)
Princess fairy tale (eek!)
Animal movie (Horse, Dog, Cat, Whale)
Silent
Kids movie
Jungle adventure!

Or did you mean specific movies?
Fast Times at Ridgemont High mashup with Young Frankenstein!
Free Willie mashup with Three Amigos!

The problem with doing the random titles is that we've done that before. If we can think of a new hook or catch then it will be new and fresh again.

Also, I meant specific movies. Like Ghostbusters and 28 Days Later, for example. That might produce a game where three paranormal investigators wake up to find most of the world is dead.

Although I like the idea of random phrases and I'm already getting familiar with it, mashing-up movies will change things a lot from the previous competition, adding a new twist!

while I debate the need to change the theme of this compo, hey if it works and the people want it, but what did you have in mind...

Sounds like fun. How could you go wrong with a competition that could result in Bambi vs. Godzilla: The RPG?

Onix - A silent movie RPG? I'd be interested in seeing that done.

I'd be more interested in Superman mixed with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Was sort of against the idea to start with, but it is sounding more appealing - taking ideas and concepts from two different movies and merging them together. Really the possibilities are limitless.

Braveheart + Matrix
Schindler's List + The Lion King
Get pictures of Animal Farm-like settings springing to mind
Apollo 13 + Babe
Animals in space?
Silence of the Lambs + Terminator
Let the mind wander...
Or even better

Silence of the Lambs + Groundhog Day

Sounds fun. No need for us to supply movie titles as the entrant can choose two fun/interesting ones right for him.

Where I think supplying movie titles helps is that you make it easier for the entrants to pick two to mash up and you get to see different games mashing the same concepts together in different ways. Last time we had that with 'The French Invade Texas'.

Perhaps better still we provide an example list but leave it open for the entrants to choose?
