Things are gonna get rough.

You’re the Alien Hominids in a battle for your extra-terrestrial freedom!

Getting Pwned

Running out of PWNAGE is not good for anyone! Every MOOK has a single point of PWNAGE, so they get taken out if they lose it. BOSSES are more robust, with PWNAGE equal to the ZONE plus LEVEL, with a further +1 if they are a black card, +1 if a queen or +2 if a king. When a BOSS runs out of PWNAGE they are defeated and will probably explode!

When an AH runs out of PWNAGE, they have been pwned! The AH is KO’d. This traumatic event causes the AH to develop a derangement. The KO’d AH must miss the next round as he recovers, but then gets to restore his PWNAGE to it’s max. The GM scores a LEVEL up for his AH every time he KO’s someone else’s AH. A KO’d hominid also loses one power up (-1 GUN, -1 BLADE or -5 GRENADES).

Doing Cool Stuff

The best way for an injured AH to get back up to speed is by doing cool stuff! If an AH pulls off a cool stunt or amuses the other players then he may regain a point of PWNAGE, but not more than his max PWNAGE silly. An AH already at max PWNAGE who does 2 something really cool can be dealt a special bonus card which they can add into any hand, before cards are revealed. An AH may not have more than one cached card at a time.

The Incredible Ninja Drinking Game

Saturday, March 18th, 2006

You hold before you the sacred words of the Shinobi ancients.

Ninja, you are duty bound to your clan to prove your might.

You have been chosen for –
The Challenge of the poisoned Chalice

Once all ninja are introduced then the chalice of poisoned emotion is placed in the centre (a pint glass will do).

Each ninja is given a smaller glass, this will hold the poison known as alcohol.

All ninja?s glasses are filled.

A deck of cards is shuffled and dealt out into a circle around the chalice of emotion. A basic Gaijin 54 card deck will suffice.

The challenge now begins in earnest.

Team Steel on Trial

Thursday, March 16th, 2006

With great power?Comes great responsibility, that’s how it goes doesn’t it?

This court is convened to determine the fate of the costumed vigilante group known as Team Steel. Team Steel is accused of doing more harm than good. If found guilty then Team Steel will be publicly de-masked and disbanded.

The trial is played out in real time over two hours, at the end of which the jury will deliver a verdict on Team Steel’s fate.

This is deep immersion baby, if that ain?t your role-play bag then you probably won?t like this game (and it is a game because there are explicit goals from the outset). It?s diceless and designed for performance, with the audience taking an active role. It?s close to a Live-Action-Role-Play, but should work well as a piece of radio (or podcast) drama. It?ll be fun at conventions!

Joe J. Prince

I’m a relative newcomer to the rpg design scene, though I’ve been an avid gamer for many years.

I became disillusioned with mainstream role-playing games some time ago after too many piss poor games of D&D.

So I’ve written my own games and blow me down if they aren’t bloody good.

Come see some shoestring indie-rpg publishing at its best.

The Dragon vs. The Gun

Monday, November 14th, 2005

Elseworld has always existed the same way, the creative nurturing force of Gaia balanced out by the magical might of The Dragon. But now a new paradigm in Elseworld is coming to the fore, a new balance for nature based on order and rationality – The Gun. Reason leaves no room for magic and myth confounds rationality. Only one can survive. The Dragon or The Gun.

This role-playing game concerns itself with one of the universal themes in mythology, literature and human thought. The conflict between chaos and order.

In this case chaos relates to capricious magic and myth – The Dragon.

Order is represented by science and cold hard reason – The Gun.

The game is set in Elsewhere, a fantasy realm where the fate of Elseworld is about to be determined.

Contenders

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005

A role-playing game of blood and sweat pain and hope. Contenders is a rpg dealing with the shady and painful world of boxing. Each player takes on the role of a contender, a pugilist trying to overcome his pain and fight his way out of the gutter. This is a submission for the ronnies 2, taking inspiration from Pain and Fight.

1,
2,
3,
4?
My vision returns at the count of five, I taste blood, my blood. The roar of the crowd is deafening, they want more. They always want more.

More blood, more pain.

I?m kneeling as the ref gets to seven, I can see in his eyes that he doesn’t expect me to get up. Why would I?

Face more pain.

Now I see her, in the front row, tears black with mascara streaming down her face, I?m drawn to the eyes, deep pools, reflecting the pain.

My pain.

The moment seems to last an eternity. I needed that, that reminder of hope. This is for you babe!

Bring the pain.

I?m on my feet again at nine. The ref hesitates for a split second.

?Ok, box!?

Now feel the pain?

Munch-Mausen Tales

Once More Unto the Game…

In this endeavour, termed by some a role-playing game, you the merry players take the role of one of those intrepid daredevils the Munch-Mausen. Indeed the Munch-Mausen account for the entire company. There is no need for a shadowy Games-Master, lingering like some pofaced god…

In Munch-Mausen Tales, you play a pack of trans-dimensional swashbuckling were-rats. You?re trying to impress this hot demon chick, so she?ll go on a date with you. This sort of thing usually ends in a punch up but who knows, maybe it?ll be different this time…

1KM1KT Published Authors

Saturday, March 19th, 2005

Today I checked the 1KM1KT mailbox like I do every morning (yes, all the e-mails are read by the monkeys at 1KM1KT) and found the following:

Hi

My name is Kevin Scott of UKG Publishing; we have today completed and signed a contract with Joe Prince to publish his role-play game Piledrivers and Powerbombs. We now own the copyright to this game. We would therefore be grateful if you can remove the above free download from your website. Should you wish to replace this item with a link to the E-version of this product we can provide a link to a paid download.

We thank you for your co-operation in this matter and should you wish to contact us, please just reply to this email. Should we have written to the wrong email address please either forward a copy of this email intact to the correct person, or reply with the responsible persons email address. You can of course also phone us on +44 1723 XXXXXX we are based in the UK

Naturally, this type of e-mail has mixed emotions for me. On the one hand, I’m thrilled that one of our members has made the leap from RPG enthusiast to published author, and it makes me happy to think that maybe our site contributed to their success in some small way. On the other hand, We’re always sad to have to take down our precious online RPG content – especially when it’s something we’ve really enjoyed.

I guess for now we’ll have to continue to settle for the idea that we’re doing our job of getting the word out there for RPG authors. That said I’d like to take this opportunity to salute all of the members of 1KM1KT, both past a present, who have had the gumption to get out there and take their work to a higher level.
